Today I had a great experience when working with a small group (3 students) on linear equations. This groups just DOESN'T get the steps, so I modeled solving more "simple" equations first and then let them practice. As we moved to the more challenging work, I modeled one and sat down to work 1:1 with student A. Shortly thereafter, student B overhears our discussion and said, "[c]an I get up and teach it to him?" I was so happy that she volunteered, and doubly happy to see her use my model! Great teacher moment!

That's awesome! It is always helpful for students to hear someone else explain how to do a problem - even better if it is one of their classmates! Just be sure that student B REALLY knows what they are explaining, or it could result in further confusion for both of them (I've seen it in my own class before)
